\n\t\tSUNSET AT THE BEACH – CHARLES LEICKERT\n\t<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\"Charles\n\tA very inviting beach view by Charles Leickert. Charles Leickert was a master in depicting story-like scenes in his paintings. Together with his very bright use of palette, this scenes seem to come to life every time you take a glance at it.
\nThe sun is slowly setting and beautifully shading the dunes from the vanishing point on the horizon. The fisherman take a rest from a day of fishing and together they look out over the beautifully lit sea.
\nLeickert is still one of the most collected painters from the Dutch romantic school. This beach scene is a very good example of his oeuvre and shows why his works are so popular.
\nLeickert is known for duplicating certain details from previous works, usually in slightly modified form, when he was satisfied with the result. In this case, the location of the painting is the same as that of another well-known work by Leickert from 1852, which was sold on April 13, 2010 in Amstedam.
\nCompared to the work sold in Amsterdam, this work has a slightly richer decoration and a slightly warmer tone. In both cases, the location shown is probably Scheveningen.\n\tArtist: <\/strong>Charles Leickert (1816-1907)

Later Leickert moved to The Hague, where he also went to study at the Academy of Visual Arts. He was apprenticed for a short time under the early deceased painter W.J.J. Nuijen and was a pupil of Andreas Schelfhout from 1839 onward. His influence is clearly reflected in the use of light, subject and atmosphere.
\nIn 1849 Leickert moved to Amsterdam, where he became a member of Arti et Amicitiae that same year. He also became a member of the Royal Academy in Amsterdam in 1856.
\nLeickert was a very prolific painter who left behind a great oeuvre and is still regarded today as the favorite of many collectors.\n
