\n\t\tA RADIANT SUNRISE – CORNELIS LIESTE\n\t<\/h1>\n\t\t\t\t\"Cornelis\n\tCornelis Lieste is best known for the brilliant use of light in his paintings. Something that Cornelis undoubtedly learned while he was a student at the studio of Barend Cornelis Koekkoek. Later, however, he formed his own unique style by combining well-balanced panoramic views with very warm and strong backlighting.
\nThis painting is an excellent example of this and was created at the height of his career.
\nThe shadow of the sky is very handsomely reflected in the calm stream in the foreground. The two fishermen in the foreground almost disappear into the landscape and seem to have no choice but to blend in with their surroundings.\n\tArtist:<\/strong> Cornelis Lieste (1817-1861)

\nAs early as 1839, Lieste won the honorable first prize at the exhibition for Living Masters called the “great silver medal”.
\nHe made study trips to Belgium and Germany. He was best known for his wide-ranging landscapes, often characterized by a relatively low horizon and overwhelming backlight. This also earned him the title “painter of light”.
\nIn 1840 Lieste visited Barend Cornelis Koekkoek in Cleves during a trip. Koekkoek had set up his own drawing academy there, which had aroused Lieste’s interest.
\nCornelis Lieste’s work can be found in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Amsterdam Museum, the Teylers Museum in Haarlem, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, the Stedelijk Museum Zwolle and the B.C. Koekkoek-Haus in Kleef.\n
